Scottish Tour Oct 2016

The Macdonald Drumossie Hotel in Inverness was our base for 3 nights. The car park in front of the hotel was full of quattros: 28 cars of which 18 were Urs plus A4 quattro Avant, A6 quattro Avant, Coupe quattro, RS4 Avant, RS6, S3 Sportback, S6, SQ5, TT 225 quattro and a new R8 Spyder from Audi UK. We also had an early 4 headlamp Diamond Silver Ur for display next to the front entrance of the hotel.

This year we had an official car from Audi UK, a new R8 Spyder. A journalist was covering our event for Audi UK, the article will be published in 2017 in Audi’s UK magazine. They did also send a professional photographer who took an amazing number of pictures.

Day 1 took us to “Beelach na Ba” and Applecross. From there lunch at “Inverewe Gardens” via Gairloch. Breath taking views all along the route, if you haven’t been to this part of the world you don’t know what you are missing. After lunch, 82 miles to the hotel via “Dondonnell” (base in a previous Tour). We stopped at the “Corrieshalloch Gorge”. A total of 254 miles, sheer bliss in the Ur and good weather.

Day 2 was titled ”North and West”. The route took us to the famous “Bonar Bridge”, “Altanharra”, “Smoo Cave” and Scotland’s most Northerly coastline: a word comes to mind “dramatic”. At lunch we stopped at the “Sango Sands Oasis” for sandwiches and soup. In the afternoon direction “Scourie”, “Ullapool”, “Elphin”, “Lochbroom” then to Inverness back to the hotel. Total for the day: 261 miles.

Saturday evening was the Gala night when as per usual we all dressed up (a bit), some Scottish members wearing as they should their kilt, always a nice touch.

Sunday morning unfortunately, time to say goodbye to old friends.

In conclusion, we can say that the Tour was a tremendous success, the organisers even managed to keep the Scottish rain away.
